Meet Our Elders

Elders are an essential part of a congregation. They are responsible for many things, but their primary concern is ensuring that the congregation is being fed the word of God. They are the trusted individuals within the congregation who have accepted the responsibility willingly, with great humility and understanding.
These men have spent their Christian lives studying and learning what God expects of them and others. They are active teachers and leaders within the congregation. All four men are married with believing children and are ready, willing and able to care for their beloved brethren.

1 Timothy 3:8-13 - Likewise must the deacons be grave, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre; Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless. Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus. (NKJV)

Our Community - Our Role
Where do we fit in?
Christians are an integral part of our community here in Antioch and East Contra Costa County. We work, live, play and worship here in simple faith in God and Christ and strongly desire to be a shining light. Our purpose is to spread the Word of God in the surrounding community with love and a passion for the truth.

Many churches are involved in various activities here in Antioch. Our involvement is simple and straightforward. The Bible tells us what our role is in the community and we adhere to those guidelines and instructions. We do not endeavor to be anything more than a place where one can come in peace and love and learn God's word.

We invite you to come visit us, see what we are about by observing our classes and worship services, asking questions and becoming our friend. We will gladly share our love of the Lord with you!

Dear Friends,

We are the church of Christ because that is a designation approved of by the New Testament (Romans 16:16). Our purpose is to glorify God through faithfulness to His word, the Bible. In our public worship we follow the example of those Christians we read about in the Bible.
Christians of the New Testament assembled for worship every first day of the week, Sunday (Acts 20:7). During this time of worship they participated in a combination of singing (Colossians 3:16), praying (Philippians 4:6), preaching of God's word (2 Corinthians 4:5), partaking of the Lord's Supper (1 Corinthians 11:23-26), and giving of their financial means (1 Corinthians 16:1-2).
During our assemblies we never solicit contributions from our visitors. We believe the Bible teaches that the giving of our money is a work and privilege of the members of each congregation. Our genuine desire is to help fulfill the spiritual needs of our visitors.
Our standard of religious authority is the Bible. We believe that it is the inspired word of God. Therefore, we accept it completely, not taking the liberty to pick the parts that seem most relevant to our individual needs. This can be a great challenge but Christians striving together with the help of God can succeed.
If you have a question about the Bible or your relationship to Christ, you can call me directly at the phone number listed above or you can send me an e-mail.

                                                                                                                Sincerely,
                                                                                                                Stan Roadman
